Gather Good Books: our Fall Reading Program
Storytimes - Please choose the storytime that is age-appropriate for your child.
- Book Babies (ages 6-23 months with caregiver) - Little ones and their grown-ups can explore books, rhymes and songs in a playgroup setting. Sign up for this program HERE
- Terrific 2s & 3s (ages 2-3 years with caregiver) - Toddlers and early preschoolers and their grown-ups will learn new stories, songs and rhymes. Sign up for this program HERE
- Fantastic 4s & 5s (ages 4-5 years; caregivers wait in the library) - Older preschoolers and kindergarteners will enjoy stories, songs and rhymes on their own. Sign up for this program HERE
- Evening Family Storytime (all ages with caregiver) - Storytime fun for the whole family that includes an easy craft project. Sign up for this program HERE
- Drop-in Saturday Bilingual Family Storytime (all ages with caregiver) - La hora de cuentos en ingles y espanol incluye la lectura, rimas, y canciones. El programa dura 30 minutos y no se necesita registrar anteriormente.
- Drop-in Saturday Family Storytime (all ages with caregiver) - Storytime fun for the whole family that includes an easy craft project. No registration required.
After School Programs
- We Play Wii (ages 6-11; grades 1-5) - Get your game on! Come play MarioKart, Wii Sports and other fun games. Sign up for this program HERE
- Poke-Mania (ages 6-11; grades 1-5) - If you're crazy about Pokemon®, this is the program for you. Use the library laptops to study Pokemon® and real-life animals. Learn about habitats, play games, and more! Sign up for this program HERE
- Geek Lab (ages 8-11; grades 2-5) - Come to the Geek Lab and explore scientific ideas and conduct wild experiments. Sign up for this program HERE
- Kids' Friday Film Fest (ages 6-11; grades 1-5; younger kids can attend with caregiver) - Hang out and watch a movie (rated G or PG), munch some popcorn and have fun. Sign up for this program HERE
After School Book Clubs
- Eager Readers (ages 5-8; grades K-2) - A book club for our youngest readers. Together we'll read and talk about a book and do a related craft. Readers will earn a collectible sticker at each session. Sign up for this program HERE
- Reading Patch Club (ages 8-11; grades 3-5) - Read a different genre story, talk about it and earn a cool embroidered patch. We'll have a wide selection of books for you to choose from when you register at the Information Desk. Sign up for this program HERE
Weekend Programs
- Lego®Mania (ages 6-11; grades 1-5) - Join your fellow builders and make amazing creations. If you have used Legos® to donate, we'd love to have them. Sign up for this program HERE
- Creative Kids (all ages) - Budding artists can stop by the Information Desk for our popular do-it-yourself craft kits.
- Beginning Quiltmakers (ages 9+; adults welcome) - Learn the art of quilting and make a masterpiece in fabric. All quilts are donated to charity. Sign up for this program HERE
- Advanced Quiltmakers (ages 9+; adults welcome) - Experienced quilters can take their skills to the next level by creating more complicated quilts. All quilts are donated to charity. Please register in person with Miss Becky.
- Quiltmakers Workshop (ages 9+ with adult caregiver) - Quilters may continue working on their projects. Kids MUST be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
Special Events
- Community Helpers: Stop, Drop and Roll! (all ages; under 8 with caregiver) - The Brookfield Fire Department is coming to the library for Fire Prevention Week! Come listen to a story, learn fire safety tips and meet 3 firefighters in full turnout gear. (Please note that this program may be canceled if there is an emergency in town.) - Community Helpers: Meet a Police Officer (all ages; under 8 with caregiver) - Come meet Officer Dave Kudla of the Brookfield Police Department! Officer Kudla will read a story, share safety tips and talk to kids about his job serving the citizens of Brookfield. (Please note that this program may be canceled if there is an emergency in town.) - Drop-in Spooky Storyime (all ages; under 8 with caregiver)- When you're done trick-or-treating at Monsters on Main Street, come to the library for a spooky family storytime. Wear your costume if you like! No registration required.
- We the People Bookshelf: A More Perfect Union - (ages 2-9th grade) - Celebrate our NEH materials grant by participating in a contest! Prizes will be awarded to winners in each grade level. For more information, click here.
