If you liked Cowboys and Aliens: Western Mashups

The movie, Cowboys and Aliens, starring Dennis Craig and Harrison Ford, mashed together two genres this summer, into a successful box office draw. Based on a graphic novel from a few years ago, the plot starts in 1873 and centers around an amnesiac criminal, Jake Lonergan, who shows up to a Arizona mining town with some sort of alien weapon attached to his hand, just in time for space alien race to show up with invasion on their mind.

National Treasure   National Treasure 2

Ben Gates is a treasure seeker with unusual morals.  He must steal the Declaration of Independence to protect it; he must kidnap the U.S. President to clear his family's name.  Check out National Treasure and National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets and follow Ben, sidekick Riley Poole, and his sometimes girlfriend Dr. Abigail Chase across the country in pursuit of national treasures.

 

Jack Bauer- 24

 

Federal Agent Jack Bauer, star of Fox's innovative drama 24, has had 8 really bad days.  Each season of 24, chronicles a 24 hour period of Bauer's life where he must stop bombs, viruses and assassination attempts, usually while trying to save the life of someone he cares about. 

 

 

John Adams

 

Based on the biography by David McCullough, HBO's award winning mini-series John Adams follows the life of our second President, John Adams.  Adams was one of the original New England patriots, representing Massachusetts in the Continental Congress and signing the Declaration of Independence.  As our new country formed, Adams continued to guide its leaders, all while remaining devoted to his wife Abigal.

Unlikely Champions: Books and Movies for fans of "The Fighter"

Did you enjoy The Fighter If the answer is yes, then you may want to check out any of these books and DVDs on Boxers and Boxing.

If you loved everything about the movie and want to know more about Micky Ward then you probably would want to start with the biography Irish Thunder: The Life and Times of Micky Ward by Bob Halloran. You may also want to check out the movie, Raging Bull, which director David O. Russell claims to be the cinematic inspiration for the movie.

However, if it is more great tales of grindy underdogs who rise up to become unlikely champions, then any of these tales may be for you; Cinderella Man: The James J. Braddock Story, any of the Rocky movies, and Rocky Marciano: The Rock of His Times.

Maybe, you are just a fan of the sport of boxing in general. If that is the case then check out an inside look into a year of boxing with The Greatest Sport of All or take a look at the new book, At the Fights, wherin some legendary American authors and journalists, glamorize and report on the sport.
