3rd Annual Taste of Brookfield @ Your Library - Get Your Tickets! (10/17/2007)

The 3rd annual Taste of Brookfield @ Your Library is slated for Friday, October 3! This year's event will be emceed by Salt Creek Wine Bar proprietors Linda and Tom Kampschroeder. $35 in advance tickets, which include food, beer, and wine 'tastes' from Brookfield establishments, are now available at the Library's Circulation Desk or at the Salt Creek Wine Bar. Local businesses who want to support the event with food and other donations may complete a donation form.

New this year - free babysitting! Attendees may bring children up to age ten to the lower level babysitting area while they attend the event. Children will participate in Youth Services activities and will be cared for by Youth Services Library staff and babysitting program volunteers. Please RSVP to Cindy Moriarity at 485-6917 x141.

Register to Vote @ The Library Today! (7/11/2008)

 The 2008 general election will be held on Tuesday, November 4. In order to vote on election day, residents must be registered by Tuesday, October 7. Don't miss your chance to participate in American democracy. Our staff can help you register to vote. Voters must be U.S. citizens age 18 or over and must live at the registered address for 30 days prior to the election. Bring two forms of I.D. to the Library and one of our Deputy Voter Registrars can assist you. For more information about voting in Cook County, see the Cook County Clerk's website.

Away Wii Go- Friday September 5 @ 10 a.m.

Seniors are invited to join us on the first Friday of each month for our senior gaming event using the Wii. The Wii allows you to play favorites games, like bowling and tennis, in a low-impact and fun environment.   The Wii is gaining in popularity with seniors all over the country; not only can you learn about technology younger family members might be into, but you can have fun doing it!!


We're looking for a few good tutors!

Calling all high school students! Are you tech savvy? Looking for a chance to share your computer knowledge? We're looking for you! Become a Teen Tech Tutor and help a senior citizen learn more about computers and technology while earning service hours. For more information, contact the Reference Desk or your school librarian at LT or RBHS.
