Search Like a Pro with Research Pro
The Brookfield Public Library is now offering access to “Research Pro”, a group of databases that can be searched simultaneously, including the library's catalog. Research Pro databases offer considerable variety in their topic areas; they are broadly classified into biography, business, encyclopedias, research, health and science, homework/student help, history, hobbies and home improvement. Log in to Research Pro using your library card, narrow or broaden the databases to include in your search, and enter your search terms.
When using Encore, look for direct links to Research Pro databases in the lower, right-hand corner of your results. And as always, you can search each database included in Research Pro individually by using our complete list of databases, or narrow your choice of database by topic on our database page.
Artists in Fiction
While looking at new fiction today, it seems there is a new trend of fiction about artists. Sunflowers: A Novel of Vincent Van Gogh by Sheramy Bundrick brings Van Gogh's personal story and paintings to life. The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver is set in 1930s Mexico in the household Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Both books are out this Fall.

NOTICE: Library Open during Lincoln Avenue and Grand Boulevard Construction
The Village of Brookfield has started the planned Grand Boulevard / Lincoln Avenue construction project but the Library is still open. Although major parts of Grand and Lincoln may be closed at various times, the Library can still be accessed via nearby side streets such as Oak and Park. Look for "Alternate Route to Library" signs. Parking will be made available at all times on either Lincoln or Grand. The project is expected to continue until the end of September.
